The Perfect Christmas Look | The Christmas Edit

So it's now December, which means we are all well and truly in the festive mood.
It also means that many of us are going to be going to Christmas parties, be it with work or with your friends. In my case, I went to my boyfriends Christmas law ball. 'Twas a little bit fancy.
When it comes to this time of year, I don't think you can go wrong with a gorgeous red lipstick to centre your makeup look around. It's so classic and can look so simple, yet so gorgeous at the same time.

I started out my look by prepping my skin. I exfoliated in the morning to ensure I was flake free and had lovely clear skin to work with. Obviously, moisturiser was a MUST whenever you 're prepping your skin. I chose my Loreal Triple Active gel moisturiser as it makes my skin feel so fresh and soft.
To follow I spritzed my face with some of Mac's Fix+ spray as my makeup does not budge when I use this!

I feel like this time of year is the perfect time to bring out a little sparkle and glow, so I mixed in one pump of Becca's Backlight primer in with my foundation. It gives the most gorgeous glow, without looking greasy but makes sure that your foundation stays in place. Because it's winter, we all seem to need a little bit more coverage, so I chose to go with my Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation, making sure to blend it well into my neck- we don't want to have the dreaded line!

I then put some concealer under my eyes and on a couple of blemishes I had (Collection Lasting Perfection in Fair) and set that with some loose powder. Because I have oily skin, I also applied some of Maybelline's Matte Maker down my T-zone and on my chin to avoid the dreaded shine.

Since it was somewhat of a big occasion, I decided to go all out and do a little bit of contouring (and, obviously, highlighting)! I have been loving using Rodial's Instaglam compact contouring powder in 03. It's a lovely cool toned shade, meaning that you won't be all orange and it won't look obvious! To add a little bit more of a glow, I highlighter with Mac's Soft and Gentle, is this of any surprise? It allowed me to have a healthy glow, without it coming across as too much, especially in photos.
I made sure to keep my eyebrows super simple, since wearing a bit of a smokey eye, so I just filled them in with Soap and Glory's brow pencil, in hot cocoa.

It being Christmas party season, I feel you need to take advantage of the sparkle! So I decided to create a subtle smokey eye while adding in a little bit of shimmer. I used a combination of Too Faced Semi-sweet palette and Rodial's Smokey eye sculpt eyeshadow palette. The slight coppery tones make the look so warm and something special.

I finished off the eyes by lining my waterline and the top with some black eyeliner to help make it a little bit more dramatic and a couple of coats with the wonderful Volume Millions Lashes by L'oreal. That stuff never fails me.

A red lip is almost an unsaid must when it comes to Christmas party looks. So, after making sure my lips were well moisturised with a good slick of vaseline, I applied a couple of coats of Bourjois' Velvet Rouge Edition liquid lipstick in Grand Cru (08). I won't lie, I ran into Boots on the way to my boyfriend's as I realised that I forgot a lipstick and clearly needed one. But oh my word am I happy I picked it up. I reapplied this once the entire night. Considering I was eating and drink most of the time, I think that is some impressive staying power. So, well worth a look at.

When it came to the outfit, I like to keep things simple and go for (all) black. It's so simple and never fails. Yet, if done well, makes a big impact. I chose this lovely M&S jumpsuit because it was SO comfortable. Like, seriously. Everyone thinks that it's a dress when you stand still, but BAM- I can do the splits! (If I really wanted to...).
My shoes are my ol' faithfuls, we all have that one pair of heels that just fit like a glove and just down right love- this is my pair. Both my shoes and clutch were from New Look and are very good value for money when thinking about how many times I have used both!

And there we have it! What I think is my favourite Christmas party look I have worn to date. Hope you have enjoyed reading! x
