That's So Frisco

Forgive me if none of this makes sense, I’m sat in the airport lounge having a g&t waiting for our flight home!

Anyways, after a six and a half hour drive up the coast and we finally make it to our final stop: San Fransisco! Or in my head, the city where the show That's So Raven was set. One thing that hits us quickly is how much colder it is up here. We’ve got used to 30-40 degree heat, and now we have 14-17! It’s safe to say I didn’t pack for this weather. But that aside, this city has so much to offer.

After trolling through Instagram, of course, I came up with a list of places I wanted to see and places to go both for sightseeing and foodie stops.
Sightseeing wise, Alcatraz and The Golden Gate Bridge are a must. Alcatraz is extremely interesting and has a lot more history and more to it than you may think. If you plan on visiting make sure you book well ahead of time, it often sells out three months in advance. Another warning, it can get very foggy so you may not always get the blue skies you expect in California. But the bridge is still amazing to say. Again, Alcatraz is amazing and well worth a visit. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything for you.

If you’re after some awesome views, make sure you check out Coit tower. You can get some amazing views of the bridge, Alcatraz Island and the Trans America Building. It’s amazing on a beautiful day. Pier 39 is also well worth a little trip, especially if you want to see the seals!

One thing I’d highly recommend is buying a Muni card. This is a prepaid card which is about $10 a day which lets you ride all of the public transport in the city. A single ride on the cable cars is $7 one way, so definitely worth having. And no one wants to drive around the city trying to find a space that doesn’t charge you $3 for 15 minutes. You think I’m joking? I’m not! It’s seriously expensive to park in the city.

Food wise, these are the places I SERIOUSLY recommend. First up, Mr Holmes Bakehouse. If you haven’t seen their amazing doughnuts and Cruffins on Instagram, GO LOOK FOR THEM. They are probably the best doughnuts I’ve ever had. Simple as. They taste as good as the look. They are also the home of the famous sign below. Everyone in the shop wants a picture of it, myself included.

Next is a place called La Marais, it’s so lovely. This beautiful little cafe has such a lovely, relaxed feel, great for a big or small bite! We popped in for a coffee and cake (obvs) and were so happy. From Quiche Lorraine to beautiful little tarts, there’s something for everyone. I mean just look how beautiful they are!
Out of all of the cities we’ve been to over the past few weeks, this is the one I really want to come back and explore some more. I know that may surprise you, as I’m sure many of you think L.A. is the one. But to me, San Fransisco Just has so much. LA is great, but it’s not somewhere that is on the top of my list to go back to. Don’t hate me! But yeah, that’s the end of the road trip! I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone. Although you might think I’m about to get seriously holiday blues- you are wrong! I literally have about a week at home and then I’m off again; James and I are off to Rome! Let me know if you want a blog post about what we get up to. It’s such a beautiful city, one of my favourites ever and I’m so excited to show him around. Have you been? If so let me know your recommendations!
